FOR Life

This week’s blog looks a lot different. That’s because I want to begin by acknowledging something important: I have no authority to provide my personal perspective on what it’s like to walk through an abortion. I’ve never been in that position myself, and I recognize that this topic carries deep pain, complexity, and personal experience for many. So instead of pretending to speak from experience, I want to offer a few thoughts as a pastor who cares deeply for people, and believes in grace and truth. My hope is for our church to be a safe place for honest conversations and hope-filled restoration.
• If you’ve had an abortion, I want you to know this: you are not alone, and you are not beyond the love and grace of God.
• The church hasn’t always done a good job at offering compassion and care in this area. We’ve sometimes spoken more about judgment than healing.
• Jesus didn’t come for the healthy but for the hurting. That includes anyone carrying the weight of past decisions.
• There is forgiveness. There is healing. There is a future full of hope. If you’re struggling, please reach out. Not because we have all the answers, but because we want to walk with you toward hope.
It’s easy for people to know what the church is against, but at Heritage we want to be known by what we’re for.
We’re for life. We are for moms who choose life, and we’re committed to walking alongside them with love and support.
We’re for grace knowing that some people carry the weight of a past abortion, and we want them to know that there is healing, mercy, and restoration in Jesus.
We’re for ALL people. For grace and truth.
Heritage is a space for grace, not shame. A place for restoration, not rejection. And I believe Jesus is always ready to meet us right where we are.
Blessings,
Pastor John
