Director of Children's Ministry • Full-time
General Purpose of the Job The Director of Children’s Ministry provides leadership, vision, and oversight for all ministry programming involving children from birth through fifth grade. This person champions Heritage Church’s purpose to help all people discover and deepen their relationship with Jesus by creating Christ-centered environments where children grow in faith, families are supported, and volunteers are empowered to serve. The Director oversees curriculum, discipleship programming, volunteer development, seasonal events, and communication for all children’s ministry areas, including Sunday School, Sprouts (4–5-year-olds), Children’s Worship (1st–5th grades), Wednesday Nights, Vacation Bible School, and other special events. Staff Relations • Participate as part of a collaborative, positive, team-oriented staff environment. • Communicate clearly with staff, parents, and volunteers. • Attend weekly staff meetings and planning meetings. • Follow supervision and direction from the Executive Pastor and Senior Pastor. • Support the broader ministry of the church with flexibility and a cooperative spirit. Other Considerations • A satisfactory background check is required. • Job descriptions may evolve as church needs change. • Employees may be asked to assist in other ministry areas when needed. • Annual evaluations will be conducted through pastoral leadership. Specific Job Responsibilities 1. Volunteer Recruitment & Leadership Development • Recruit, train, encourage, and schedule volunteers for Sunday School, Sprouts, Children’s Worship, Wednesday Night ministry, and other special events. • Provide ongoing support, appreciation, and coaching for all volunteers. 2. Curriculum Selection & Lesson Preparation • Select, order, and distribute curriculum for Sunday School, Sprouts, Children’s Worship, and Wednesday Night. • Prepare weekly lessons, activities, materials, and room setup for Sprouts and Children’s Worship. • Serve as the primary teacher during Children’s Worship each Sunday. 3. Sunday Morning Ministry Oversight • Oversee Sprouts (4–5-year-olds) during the Worship Services, ensuring volunteers, lessons, and activities are prepared. • Lead Children’s Worship (1st–5th grades) as the primary teacher, planning lessons and activities. • Oversee and set up check-in system. • Oversee nursery and preschool areas (birth–3 years), ensuring safety, cleanliness, and volunteer support. 4. Wednesday Night Ministry Oversight • Oversee classes (K4-5th grades), ensuring volunteers, lessons, and activities are prepared. • Oversee and set up check-in system. • Oversee nursery and preschool areas (birth–3 years), ensuring safety, cleanliness, and volunteer support. 5. Event & Program Planning • Vacation Bible School • 1st Grade Bible Presentation • Trunk or Treat • Hanging of the Greens • Palm Sunday processional • Easter Egg Hunt • Christmas choirs and handbells • Communion Class • Promotion Sunday and Backpack Blessing • Heritage Giving/Mission Project activities • Created by God • Other seasonal or special children’s events as assigned • Communicate with the Nursery Directory for special events nursery needs (Worship Nights, church conferences, etc.) 6. Purchasing & Resource Management • Purchase and manage materials and supplies for the resource closet, Sprouts, Children’s Worship, Sunday School, and Wednesday Night classes. • Maintain organized, clean, and well-stocked children’s ministry spaces.
Choir Director • Part-time
General Purpose: The Choir Director provides spiritual and musical leadership for the Heritage Church Adult Choir and helps support the Traditional Worship Service through planning, rehearsing, and directing choral music that enhances worship. This position works closely with the Senior Pastor, church staff, pianist/organist, and volunteers to cultivate a vibrant, Christ-centered music ministry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Worship Leadership • Direct the Adult Choir for Sunday morning Traditional Worship. • Select appropriate choral music that aligns with the sermon theme, church calendar, and worship environment. • Coordinate with the pianist and/or organist for rehearsals and worship services. • Lead weekly choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings. Planning & Collaboration • Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor and/or Executive Pastor to coordinate music for worship services. • Collaborate with church staff as needed when planning special services (Advent, Holy Week, etc.). • Work cooperatively with the (10:04) Worship Leader when joint or combined services occur. Choir Development & Care • Recruit, encourage, and nurture choir members of all skill levels. • Create a positive, Christ-centered rehearsal environment. • Explore opportunities to form seasonal or special ensembles as needed. Administration • Oversee the choir music library, choir robes, and related supplies. • Maintain CCLI standards for all printed and performed music and assist with copyright reporting for the Traditional Service. • Communicate music selections, schedules, and rehearsal information clearly with choir members and church staff. • Submit music ministry needs and budget recommendations to the Staff and appropriate committees if required. Special Events & Support • Prepare and direct music for special services including: – Christmas and Easter services – Funerals (as available) – Weddings (upon request, subject to church wedding policies) • Assist the Children’s Ministry Director when planning and presenting special children’s musical programs (as needed). • Coordinate with sound technicians and volunteers to ensure musical elements are properly supported. Equipment & Facilities • Ensure proper care and use of church-owned musical instruments and equipment related to the Traditional Worship Service. • Communicate any repair or replacement needs to Trustees following proper procedures. Qualifications • A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. • Ability to affirm and respect the mission and beliefs of Heritage Church. • Experience in choral directing, conducting, or vocal music leadership. • Ability to read music and provide vocal guidance. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and foster a positive volunteer environment. Work Schedule • Wednesday evening choir rehearsals. • Sunday morning Traditional Worship leadership. • Additional time required for major holidays, planning meetings, or special events.
