Have you ever felt like you were just drifting through life, unsure of your purpose? Maybe you’ve done something wild just to feel alive like Larry Walters, who tied 45 weather balloons to a lawn chair because he was tired of doing nothing. We all face moments that change everything turning points that shift our direction and shape our future. One of the most powerful turning points in the Bible is Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. He went from hunting down Christians to becoming one of the most passionate preachers for Jesus. It shows how a real encounter with Christ can completely change the course of our lives.

How Does God Step In When We’re Heading the Wrong Way?

Saul thought he was doing the right thing. He was smart, respected, and deeply religious. He believed he was serving God by arresting and punishing Christians. He was even present when Stephen was killed.

But Saul was sincerely wrong.

God stepped in dramatically. As Saul neared Damascus, Jesus called his name, knocked him to the ground, and blinded him not to punish him, but to save him.

Sometimes God interrupts our lives in ways that feel abrupt or painful like a parent grabbing a child who’s about to run into traffic. That’s not cruelty. It’s mercy in action.

When we’re going in the wrong direction, God may:- Use Scripture, people, or circumstances to warn us- Allow us to lose control so we turn to Him- Close doors we’re not supposed to walk through- Interrupt our plans to reveal His

What Happens When We’re Broken and Blind?

After the encounter, Saul was blind for three days. For the first time, he wasn’t in control. He had to be led by the hand.

But this darkness wasn’t punishment. It was preparation.

Think of a photograph developing in a darkroom. Saul’s blindness was a setup for a new vision. In that quiet space, he prayed not out of habit, but out of need. God was reshaping him from the inside out.

Our own waiting seasons can feel dark and still, but those times often produce the most growth. That’s when we finally stop trying to control everything and let God work. His timing is always right even if it feels slow to us.

Can God Really Use Our Past?

Saul had a violent, shameful past. Yet God said, “He is my chosen instrument.”

God didn’t just forgive Saul—He gave him a mission. Saul’s past didn’t disqualify him. In fact, God used everything about him his education, his background, even his Roman citizenship for a new purpose.

That’s good news for us. Because with God:- Failure isn’t final- Your story matters- Someone needs your testimony- What God has forgiven, you don’t need to carry anymore- Nothing is wasted not even your worst chapters.

A pastor once said, “God gives everyone a story. He lets you go through certain things so you can help others.” So, will you share your story, or stay silent in shame?

Life Application: What’s Your Next Step?

God redirects us when we’re off track. He meets us in our weakness. And He can turn our past into purpose.

This week, try this:

- Pause and listen. Spend five minutes each day praying, “Lord, where are you leading me?”

- Look back with grace. Write down one way God has used your past to help someone else.

- Go forward with courage. Ask where God wants to send you—and when He shows you, say “Yes, Lord.”

When life feels uncertain, pray this simple prayer: “I trust You, Jesus.” Let those words settle your heart.

Reflection Questions

- Is God rerouting your story right now?

- Has He interrupted your life in unexpected ways?

- Do you need a new vision in this season?

- What bold step can you take this week?

Today could be your turning point. Whether you’re ready to surrender your life to Christ, need a fresh start, or feel stuck in shame now is the time. Say yes. Trust Him. Let Him rewrite your story.
